One of the mantras I am sure COREinternational clients are tired of hearing is “form follows function, structure must be aligned to strategy.”  Misalignment is costly, not only in terms excessive operational expense, but in terms of ability to deliver strategy to foster value for customers and shareholders. It can also play havoc with employees and the ability of organizations to retain them. In a Harvard Business Review article, “The Importance of Organizational Design and Structure,”  dated February 11, 2011, Gill Corkindale describes her observations of why organization design and implementation does matter and some of the impacts she has seen, that you may be able to relate to.  I hope you enjoy this quick read.
